When the squire\u2019s estate of Bribir was abolished in 1848, the local government leveled Vela and Mala vrata (entrance doors leading inside the walls) and the citadel, and a school was built in their place.<\/p><p>This is how the long and glorious history of Bribir\u2019s citadel ended in ruins. The only remnants of Bribir\u2019s citadel are the quadrangular tower dating from 1302 and a part of the walls.<\/p><p>You can find comfortable accommodation in family houses. is situated at the foot of the ruins of the Frankopans&#8217; castle and of the craggy cliffs of \u201cgri\u017ee\u201d, after which it was named. The old castle was damaged in a strong earthquake in 1323.<\/p><p>The round towers were completed in the 15th\u00a0 century, and today you can only see the remnants of the once famous castle. The castle of Gri\u017eane had an irregular, rectangular shape with round towers, and this irregularity was caused by the peculiar configuration of the ground. Prince Martin kept court here; he was the founder of the port called Crikvenica, which is situated on the coast.<\/p><p>In Gri\u017eane, you will find accommodation in stone houses arranged in the autochthonous coastland style. lake gives Tribalj its special charm. Tribalj is a paradise for fishermen, hang-gliders and paragliders, as well as cyclists, walkers and hunters.<\/p><p>St. Mary\u2019s Church in Tribaljsko polje is mentioned in history as the place of judicature according to the Vinodol Codex. Glagolitic rolls confirm it. An early Croatian necropolis from the period between the 8th and 11th century was discovered in the area around Stran\u010de, a part of Tribalj.
