THE CHURCH OF BLESSED VIRGIN’S VISIT TO ELISABETH
The parish church of Blessed Virgin’s Visit to Elisabeth is mentioned in historical notes dating from 1323, 1412 and 1449. According to Glagolitic rolls, it was the place of judicature based on the Vinodol Codex. The mediaeval construction of this church in Tribalj was significantly reconstructed and expanded in the 19th century, and the altars were designed in the Neoclassicist style. The main altar has a mechanical altarpiece. The front of the church was recently renewed.

A beautiful lake gives Tribalj its special charm. Tribalj is a paradise for fishermen, hang-gliders and paragliders, as well as cyclists, walkers and hunters. St. Mary’s Church in Tribaljsko polje is mentioned in history as the place of judicature according to the Vinodol Codex. Glagolitic rolls confirm it. An early Croatian necropolis from the period between the 8th and 11th century was dicovered in the area around Stranče, a part of Tribalj. The necropolis contained numerous exhibits which are preserved in the Maritime and Historical Museum in Rijeka.

STRANČE
The early Croatian necropolis with finds dating from the 8th to the 11th century. Graves were discovered in 1902, while the road to Tribalj was being built. Items of daily use were found in the graves of an earlier stage. In the graves of the later stage, mostly jewellery was found, especially earrings, rings, necklaces, pendants and appliqués. Based on the richness of finds, the necropolis in Stranče is rated second in the whole Croatia. It provides an insight into the development of material and spiritual culture of Croats in mediaeval Vinodol. The exhibits are preserved in the Maritime and Historical Museum in Rijeka.
